Who We Are

Horizon House Sober Living is operated by Marshall and Elizabeth (Liz) Richter, and provides structured, accountability-driven recovery residences for individuals transitioning from treatment into stable, independent living.

We work closely with professionals who want a sober living partner that is consistent, communicative, and aligned with each client's long-term recovery goals. We are not a treatment provider — we serve as the bridge between treatment and independent living, reinforcing the work your team has already begun.

"We take seriously what it means when you refer a client to us — you are entrusting us with the continuation of the work you have already invested in."

About Our Homes

Horizon House consists of two adjacent residences — His House (men) and Her House (women) — located in Cathedral City. We provide a clean, supportive, and highly structured environment for individuals serious about maintaining sobriety.

Our Program Emphasizes

  • Accountability — daily routines, clear expectations, consistent standards
  • Integrity & Honesty — coaching residents to show up truthfully and consistently
  • Community Structure — peer support, shared responsibility, a culture of growth
  • Safety & Stability — a predictable, recovery-focused environment

Why Referral Partners Choose Us

  • Structure without chaos
  • Firm but supportive guidance
  • A home that reinforces treatment, not undermines it
  • Residents held to consistent expectations
  • A team that communicates clearly and professionally

Coordinated Communication & Collaboration

One of the greatest benefits of partnering with Horizon House is our commitment to consistent, coordinated communication with referring professionals. Our goal is to ensure you are never in the dark about how your client is doing once they leave your care.

  • Regular updates on attendance, engagement, and general progress
  • Immediate notification of concerns, behavioral issues, or relapse indicators
  • Collaborative planning for step-downs, aftercare, and long-term goals
  • Clear boundaries around what we can and cannot provide
